I'm planning on getting the city mini double and I'm wondering if I can get away with not ordering the carseat attachment. Can a newborn be placed in the main seat? Will I regret not getting the carseat attachment? Any advice would be appreciated!
We have a Baby Jogger City Mini single w/ the car seat adapter and I did use it frequently when DS was a newborn. He was a winter baby though and I liked having his warm in his car seat while using the stroller.
We got the Baby Jogger City Mini double and held off getting the attachment. We never felt like we needed it. We do have the adjustable belly bar. It's absolutely not intended to use to hold a car seat, but a few times we did just that. I balanced the car seat on the belly band and use my mommy hook to attach the car seat handle to the stroller frame. I didn't take my hand off the car seat and I didn't do it often. For long walks DD went straight into the seat, because it fully reclines. We went to the beach and took long strolls on the boardwalk when she was only two weeks old.
For us the carseat attachment was a total waste of money. We used it a total of one time. When DD was tiny she hated being in the carseat and would scream if she was awake. I ended up wearing her most of the time. When we would put her in the stroller, I would just recline the seat all the way down and put a head support thing in.
I hate the bulk it adds to the stroller, but I am glad we got it-- I hate taking DS out of the car seat unless I have to when we're in and out of the car running errands. You definitely don't *need* it though-- newborns can ride in the BJCM right away with the seat reclined.
