East Coast GTG Thread

Okay, let's get this thing moving.  Philly or NYC.  Once people started suggesting NJ instead of NJ, I felt we might need to do another poll because NJ clearly isn't NYC.  Do we need to do that?  Should we vote again of just go with NYC since it won (by one vote)?

It appears from the last thread that Saturday, March 31st was the winning date.

So ladies, what are we doing?

  • Who knows NJ and things to do? I am willing to help plan Philly (based off of last year) but don't know NJ well enough to plan that location (hotel, things to do, etc.)

I guess my main point was, should NJ even be considered?  The vote was for NYC not Jersey.

  • March 31st would be hard for us to make (I have a HUGE work event on the 30th, and S arrives back in the country from her 2nd overseas trip this month on the 30th), but if that's what works best for everyone, we'll try to make it. April 14 or 21 would work better for us, just in case we start looking at April again.

That being said, Philly would definitely be easier to possibly make if we keep Mar. 31st. I'm just not quite sure if S is going to want to come off a 14 hour flight and turn around and take a 4 hour car ride to get to NJ/NY. Indifferent

ETA: And I would consider doing a Philly trip by myself if S can't come, but probably not NJ/NY.

  • I'm still up in the air about the 31st.  The 14th is a definite no for us but the 21st would probably work
  • LOL. I am a go for the 31st (which would be good for us since they aren't in school the 30th and I am home with them so we could head up early (if L isn't coming.) And I am up in the air about the 21st (though I am not sure if those plans with come to fruition.)

Although the plus side would be the weather might be a tad bit warmer if we wait till later in the month. But as we all know, that is a crap shoot. :)

  • Can anybody make an affordable argument for a location in NYC or NJ?  The vote was NYC, but no one seems to be promoting it in the comments.  (I did vote NYC,  but I think the Philly arguement is pretty valid).  I also wonder if the people who voted NYC meant the city proper or if they thought it included a potential NJ site.

We will probably not spend the night either place.  The 31st or any weekend in April other than the holiday weekend is currently free.

  • The 31st is definitely much better for me but the April dates might work. If they do I could only do the 14th or 21st, but definitely not the 28th.

So crap.  We're back to square one.

Should I start a date poll?  Yup, I think so.

Oops. Embarrassed Sorry to have thrown a wrench in the works. That's what I get for being on the bump so intermittently!

  • We won't be able to make it if the destination is Philly. At least not this spring.

We would potentially be up for NYC or NJ/NY.

If the group is leaning toward NY/NJ but not NYC I do have a suggestion I could share.  There is a spot in NY where we often break up the drive to PA with kid-friendly/easy/inexpensive restaurants and decent hotels with pools. Looks there may also be some fun activities nearish as well. Though, for a one-day visit, do we really need more than food and a pool? (...and a bar? ;) ) lol
