It's not very safe to wear a baby on your back with a Moby. It's way too stretchy and baby can fall out if they push against your back too much. I used to have youtube video about it bookmarked but I can't find it now.
I wore DS facing front in mine a few times. I just made sure to tuck his knees up into the horizontal piece so it was almost like he was sitting Indian style. It wasn't very comfortable because his spine was working against my body just like in a a baby Bjorn and similar crotchdanglers. I mostly did it because he never liked facing inward and I wasn't comfortable getting him on my back in my pod or MT unassisted.

I've worn DD forward facing in the moby. Like pp, you do have to tuck the legs up so they're almost sitting cross-legged. I wore her ff through the airport and she really loved being able to look around at everything that was going. I've done it a few times around the house, but her arms don't reach her mouth so she doesn't like it quite as much.
Woven wraps are a great option for back carries...They are the same idea as a moby, just not stretchy. They are more expensive, but you can use them for years and years and then resell them for almost what you paid for them...if you want to!
Also a Mei Tai is a great option you can do a high back carry (were they look over your shoulder) or a regular back carry where they are down below/at you shoulder blades). BabyHawk and Catbird are two of the easiest to find.
Meh. I don't completely agree with some of the points in that article. I definitely dislike crotch danglers, but overall I think babywearing is a wonderful thing, even if the carrier and/or technique is not super great. I also don't believe a forward facing out (FFO) carry is going to cause hip problems in the majority of kids unless the baby is being worn for hours each and every day. As for weight distribution and all that, most parents who are using crotch danglers for FFO having pretty little babies, so I doubt that's a major concern. By the time the kiddo gets heavier, either the parent stops BWing or discovers the wide world of quality baby carriers.
For the record, the Moby FFO carry is called the Lotus, and the instructions call for the baby's legs to be tucked up and crossed so that the baby is sitting criss cross applesauce in the carrier. No crotch dangling and no arched back, although *I* don't find it to be a particularly comfy carry.
I did wear DS in the Moby crotch dangler style before I "knew better." I highly doubt I'll wear our new LO that way, but neither DS nor I are worse for the wear. I agree 100%, though, that the Moby IS NOT safe for baby carries. Another carrier that you can do both FFO and back carries with is the Beco Gemini. I don't have personal experience with one, but I've heard good things about it.

No. Forward facing is not recommended in any carrier https://www.bobafamily.com/blog/2011/10/11/nine-reasons-not-to-carry-your-baby-facing-out/
And they're too stretchy for a back carry.
Hey Lauryn!
I have an Ergo and it's fantastic, it is adjustable to front, hip and back carry.
