Cradle cap question

So LO had cradle cap when he was around 2 months, and my pedi recommended Head and Shoulders shampoo to clear it up. Well, it sure did, but anytime I stop using that and just use regular baby shampoo it starts to come back. Does that seem normal like it should still be popping up at this age?

    Lyse!!  Hello dahling!  N still has it a bit.  It comes and goes. He had it really bad for a while.  I used olive oil on it and it cleared up in 2 days.  A little bit before a bath, wash his hair a couple times to get it out and comb out the flakes.  He gets just a little dry every now and then now.

    Hey love! I used olive oil too. Worked like a charm and never came back. I put a bit on before bath. Let it set for a while, combed it out and then washed a few times. Like Gym, I did it two, maybe three times in a row.

    I also used the olive oil.  BUT I heard that the tear free agent in baby shampoo can cause cradle cap.  I stopped using the baby shampoo and would use just a little regular shampoo and it never came back.

    I was very careful not to get it in her eyes and always washed her hair last so it wasn't even in the water as an extra precaution.  Lately I have started using the tear free stuff again to see if she has "grown out of" the craddle cap stage and knock on wood she hasn't gotten it again yet.

    Hi Gym and Ams!! I originally used olive oil but the Head and Shoulders worked better. I supposed I could try both for a few baths to clear it up.

    Mrsl - I have not heard that about the Tear free shampoo but I think I'm done using it, at least for now.
