While I completely understand that you're supposed to be tired with a newborn, this is insane!!! If he was up screaming and crying all night, I would understand (though this is not what I'm asking for either). So here's the problem: he makes SO MUCH NOISE all.the.time! He grunts and screeches and snorts - we've actually nicknamed him Gizmo.
So last night I went to bed around 1130 and he came in the rm with DH at about 12 after he fed him. I didn't get any sleep until about 2 when I came out to the living rm to sleep. Since our bedrm is on the main floor, I woke up when DH fed him at 3 So that's about 1 hr. after that feedin I was so tired I figured I would give the bedroom another shot and he kept me up til 430. Then I came back out to the LR where I was woken up at about 6 from the next feeding.
I don't want to put him in his rm just yet bc it's upstairs and next to the big boys and I DO NOT want to wake them up at 3 am. The only way I can get sleep is if DH sleeps in the living room with him (still wake up when he gets a bottle bc our room is close to the kitchen) but then DH gets no sleep and I feel horribly guilty.
So what would you do? Put him upstairs (still feel like he's too young / SIDS risks etc)? Let DH take him? Some other solution?
Thank goodness that J&B are at daycare today and I don't have to be "on" all day. Please help though bc I need some sleep tonight!!!

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
The girls did that too! I couldn't sleep through it. The H took a shift from like 6-midnight so I could go in the bedroom and just zonk out. Then I could sleep between feedings from midnight on. This is while I was on leave and he had to work.

Oh yes...the infamous preemie grunting...annoying, but so common! :-)
Earplugs seem like the best option. Hope you get some rest today!

We used a fan in our room when DD was in there. I am not a light sleeper, so I honestly don't know if she mad a ton of noise, but if she did, I wouldn't have heard it over the fan. I did hear her when she cried though! With DS, (I also don't remember lots of grunting, etc) we had to use rain or other white noise so he would settle down and sleep anyway, so that probably blocked out his noises.
So another vote for white noise - it would probably help all of you sleep!
