For those of you who bedshare, what do you do if you have to leave LO overnight? My parents and in-laws are anxious for visits with LO but we bedshare, and I can't see how it's ever going to work!
We bed-share, but we start LO out in her crib so we have a few hours together in the evening. When we go to bed, she comes in with us. Would something like that help? Admittedly, DD doesn't love the crib and we spend a lot of time rocking her and putting her back down, but at least we get some evening time to interact and do things around the house.

IVF #1 started 10/07/10, ER 10/17/10 6 retrieved/6 fertilized, ET on day 5 10/22/10... Beta #1 on 11/5/10: 680!!!, Beta #2 on 11/8/10: 2337!!!, U/S 11/18/10 Got to see the tiny beating heart! What a blessing!
12/2/10 U/S HB 176 & I'm released!
For us LO sleeps in so many dif places. During the day I'll put her down in her pnp and in our room we have a cradle on one side of the bed and her swing on the other side. She sleeps with us for some of the night and in her own bed/swing. When we spend the night at my parents she sleeps in a pnp.
Us either. The price we pay for "doing it our way"... I also don't have any desire to leave him overnight yet.
Ditto - sorry!
Another ditto. She stopped bedsharing around 8 mo by her own choice. But besides that, until she was fully STTN (as in all night, not just 5-6 hours) around 12 mo and I stopped pumping when I was away from her, I wouldn't leave overnight her anyway. I didn't want to until then.
We haven't left LO overnight and TBH neither me nor H have any strong desire to do so yet. And beyond bedsharing, LO nurses at least once, but usually 2+ times a night.
Before LO arrived, MIL offered to watch him overnight "if we needed a break after a week" and we said thanks but no thanks we will keep our 1wk old at home.
Perhaps I'm biased by my own experiences, but I know of very few people who leave their LO's overnight before 1-2yrs old outside of emergency or child birth type situations. Not judging those who do, because I can certainly see the appeal of a solid 8hrs just not something I see happen a lot so it really hasn't come up outside of the odd offer by MIL.
We haven't left DD overnight yet but we never planned on doing so, at least not until she is at least a year or more. But that is common with my group of friends so I never really considered what we would do if something came up and we HAD to.
