Home from KC, ER visit

It's never a true vacation without a visit to the ER.

Made a quick run over to KC to see friends for the weekend.  On Saturday night, while waiting to be seated at one of the best BBQ places in town, Charlie decided it would be a great idea to stick his fingers in the restaurant's heavy iron door.   Smooshed two fingers really good, so we figured we'd better get x-rays.  Fortunately, nothing broken, but it could have been much worse.

Went to our pedi yesterday and she said we could remove the splint.  He's much happier now.

As for mommy, a major case of guilt and a viral infection/cold/flu complete with chills and body aches.  Sigh.

Oh.. at least our friends did get us some burnt ends to go.  Ate them around 11pm!

  • How scary. Glad C Man is doing better.

Hope you get over the nasties and the guilt too.

What BBQ place did you visit? I'm from KC (Kansas side) and love me some KC BBQ!

  • How scary.  I would have freaked out and made it worse.  Thank goodness their little bones are rather flexible at this age

  • Mama... it was Jack Stacks, of course!  LOVE the burnt ends there!   Our friends went ahead and ate and brought us some back at the hotel.

  • So glad to hear the fingers made it through (mostly) unharmed, how scary.

  • Ouch! Glad nothing's broken.
  • Glad he is doing ok! Could have been much more serious...

I have a stupid question since I did not grow up in this country. What are the "ends"? Ends of what?

Funny... I had to Google it to make sure I was right.

When you have a hunk of beef brisket, it's the leftover scraps that don't really make a decent serving slice.   Little chunks of meat that have all the charred bits and lots of flavor.  Super yummy.   I'm pretty sure it's mostly a Kansas City BBQ thing... never have had them anywhere else.

LOL!  I did grow up here, but I didn't know what they were either!  Owwwwww for Charlie.  I'm so glad he's ok and his fingers are on the mend  Poor little guy.  Hope you're feeling better.  Seems like no matter how great the vacation, there is always some "recovery" time needed when we return.

Youch! Poor guy. Vacation is just not vacation without some sort of monkey wrench thrown in. And yum, now that someone's explained it, ends sound delicious.
