mei tai high back carry help (PIP)

I managed to get LO into a high back carry with my new mei tai.  It's the infantino eco sash.  So far, she's not super happy in the back carry, and I can't really tell if it's comfortable for me yet either.  It seems like it is hard for her to move her head around if she decides she wants to.  Also, my arms are short so I can't really get the straps to go over the body of the carrier to do the lexi twist.  I just crossed them underneath her bottom and legs.  Is that safe?  It does feel very secure.  I feel like right before the picture she was just a tad higher.  Any suggestions?
