Over a week ago, we went one arm out. We had a few good nights and a few bad nights. DS had his 6m appt on Wednesday and all sleep has gone to he!l since then.
We went on with our plan and went both arms out on Friday night. We were up every 20-30 minutes. It was disastrous. Same thing on Saturday, so we ended up swaddling one arm. We still didn't get any sleep. Last night we swaddled one arm to put him down, then we completely swaddled him by 11 because we knew the direction the night was going in. Even swaddled, we were up every 20-60 minutes all.night.long.
I handed DH Ferber's book and told him to read up on chapter 4 because I think that's where we're headed. I'm not super keen on doing sleep training that involves crying (I have nothing against it, I'm just a wimp), but at this rate, we are all suffering. He's not sleeping well swaddled, or with one arm out or with two arms out,
Any advice??
Re: Help me lose the swaddle
I'm sorry it's going so rough! I think like Scout said, you're going to just have to do it and stick to it as hard as it could be. I'm not much help because we were able to do the one arm out for about a week then just went cold turkey. DD liked having her hands up by her face though. She also found a small blankie with satin edging that she clung to at night which helped (comfort thing).
I hope he gets the de-swaddling thing figured out to make it a bit easier on you!! Hang in there.

Hi Vicky. I obviously have no advice as we are still swaddling, but I am dreading weaning. I just wanted to say hi and tell you I'm sorry it's been so tough. We're having a hell of a hard time right now too and I've spent most of this morning crying right along with DS. Hoping the wean improves and that you get some helpful hints. I know I'll be asking you for advice about this in a month or two!
