East Coast GTG - Location *UPDATE W/CLICKY POLL*

Should we vote on a location? A location might determine who is in and who is out.  Then we can pick the weekend from there (although 3/31 seemed to work for most - right?)  So far I'm thinking:

- NYC

- Philly

Does anyone want Boston or is it time to switch go someplace other than MA?  I'd throw Albany in the running but I'm sure no one would vote for it. Wink  We could put DC on the list but I think the goal is to keep anyone from having to fly, right?

I'll make this a clicky poll once all locations are suggested.

  • We'd do Boston, NYC/NJ, Albany or Philly
  • Loading the player...
  • We could do NY/NJ or Philly. I probably need to keep it within a 3hr drive of DC/B'more since I a not sure I am able to take a Friday/Monday.

  • We'd do Philly or NY/NJ. I can't take days right now, and I don't think a hotel room is in the cards.

  • We'd probably be in, assuming the weekend works for us.  NY/NJ of course is home, and Philly is pretty convenient.

  • I voted Philly because I think it would be more cost effective. Hotels in/around NYC are $$$, parking is $$ (could totally do subways, but those of you with strollers it would be a PITA!)

If we do NY/NJ, I would rather do something outside of the city due to issues mentioned above, but also L has been dying to take the kids to NYC for their first trip and I am not sure she will be able to join us. I don't want to take that away from her.

  • Hopefully I can make it and I voted for Philly because financially only a day trip is in the cards right now :-)
We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
  • Somewhere in NJ might ease the cost/hassle and still be closer than Philly for New Engand people?  It depends on what we're looking for - a playground/indoor playground for an afternoon, or dinner, or people staying overnight in the same area?

  • I can't decide how to vote.  Philly/NY/NJ all have pros and cons that make them equal for us.

Last year CT's family and my family went to the Please Touch Museum (kids museum in Philly), went swimming with Meegs' family and TWB/N2A's family at the hotel, hung out in our room and enjoyed a cocktail from the downstairs bar while the kids played, and then then we all went to dinner near the hotel -  5 adults and 7 kids!) The following day we all ate breakfast in the hotel and then went to a big playground and let the kids run before all heading our separate ways.

Indoor play areas, museums (though difficult to socialize with a large group), playgrounds (weather dependent) are all good things to do. It was nice to all stay in the hotel to go swimming/hang out. I liked that Embassy suites since we were able to hang out in our room, they have a free cocktail hour, and a good free breakfast. :)

  • Should I do a third one with NJ as an option?  Because NYC and NJ are two totally different things and my vote could be swayed (one way or the other) if NYC becomes NJ.

  • So, uh, I voted NYC but that Philly hotel sounds like a pretty good deal...  I had been thinking we'd make it a daytrip (and in NYC we'd definitely sleep at home) but swimming/hot tub/cocktails/included hot breakfast sounds pretty appealing.  I'd have to confer with the wife about hotel cost.  Two, I think throwing Jersey in as an option may be a good idea, though I just looked a little and didn't see an obvious place.  Expedia's Jersey City options were lacking.
