Pregnant after a Loss

So unmotivated to exercise

I have 2 prenatal DVD's, and I just took the plastic wrap off of them, but I have ZERO motivation to actually put them in the player and use them.

How do you guys get motivated to work out???

It's going to be super nice in NJ this week, so I do plan on walking around our neighborhood each day, that counts, right?

Re: So unmotivated to exercise

  • I am walking 2 miles a day on our treadmill every morning still, and that is it.  My only motivation is that it will help get the baby out.  lol

It's tough, all I did this pregnancy was walking which was a big change for me because I am a distance runner when not pg.  There are days when you will feel like it more than others!

  • I won't be giving any advice, because I am in the SAME boat!!! I had this problem before I was pregnant, though, so I think it just carried over. :P

I finally started my pregnancy dvd two days ago, and did it both days. I really enjoy it, but don't know if it's really going to do the trick. I think I may do it a few days a week when I don't feel like getting out, but I really am going to try to go to the gym to do the treadmill, too.

My ounce of motivation I got this week was from my +7 weight gain in the past month (YIKES!). Also, we are going to Florida in September, which is 3 months PP... and I figure maybe if I work out now, it won't be so hard to get back into shape after baby's here???

I know it's hard... just one day make yourself pop the dvd in and see how it goes!! A lot of times it's just taking that first step. :)

  • I'm in the same boat.  I primarily work from home so its very easy to hang out in PJ's and relax all day.  I think another issue for me is I don't like working out alone and by the time everyone gets home from work in the evenings I'm to tired to want to do anything!  You're right though.  It's going to be beautiful here in NJ this week and I definitely plan on getting out and atleast taking my dogs for a nice long walk!!

You will get that energy soon! And yes walking around counts :)

  • I have been doing lots of walking lately I have prenatal exercise dvds that I have opened but not done either. It is hard to get motivated when I get home and my furbaby wants to cuddle.
  • I've been going to the gym 2-3 times/week to use the treadmill and will start walking outside with DS once the weather is nicer.  I had DS 2 weeks early and i worked out the entire pregnancy.  I keep telling myself that if I work out through this pregnancy, maybe I'll go 2 weeks early again.  Smile  Hey - it's enough to motivate me!

  • its very hard to get motivated to workout at home!  are there any classes you can take (at your local gym or a studio that offers something that interests you).  I take Kickboxing on Saturdays and then Spin twice a week at local studios (which was I was doing before i became pg, due to my lack of motivation to exercise at home - espeically in the winter!).  Its the fact that i paid for class that gets me motivated to go.

  • This is definitely me. I've been feeling better as far as the nausea goes (that's what originially kept me from exercising) but when I get home I am sooo tired. I just want to start dinner and plop on the couch.  I think I may enlist DH to motivate me to play the Kinect.

And walking absolutely counts! I think once it gets warmer that's going to be my go-to.

  • I am not motivated to work out.  I have exercise anyways.  Because of the SPD I could only walk anyways, between having a 19 month old DS, the literal pain of getting in and out of the car to drive somewhere to walk, not to mention the gas prices (my husband literally has to take my car to work by the end of the week because his is too low on gas and it's not pay day yet), it's just not on my to-do list.

  • I'm not going to lie, I tried starting twice over this pregnancy, but after being sick all of first tri, I also had zero motivation......  And I think about how much more difficult labor will be because I am so unfit!  Maybe focus on that?

    BFP#1 EDD 11/8/11 - MC @ 9w6d, 4/15/11 we said goodbye

  • All I have been doing is trying to force myself to take a walk a day. some days it has worked, others it has not. Hopefully you (and I) can find the motivation to get active!
