I don't own this car seat, but the Cosco Scenera gets very high marks for safety and value on Consumer Reports. I have a friend who used it as a second car seat, and they liked it and it proved to be very safe when they unfortunately were in a bad car accident.
I would get the Evenflo Triumph. It is a great price and recommended by Consumer Reports. But, I haven't used it yet. Still have an inside baby!
ETA: Hmm I looked up the other seats recommended and they are super cheap! I will have to research the safety ratings.
Consumer Reports isn't a good indicator of a safe or reliable car seats, they don't disclose their testing methods, so you have no idea if their testing it compliant with federal standards. Their rating system is skewed, I don't personally like how they report. Having said that, an excellent resource for car seat info, from qualified people, is https://www.car-seat.org/ (also check out their blog, link is at the top of the forum home page), or https://www.thecarseatlady.com/.
OP, price wise the Scenera is often recommended as a great inexpensive car seat for the "backup" seat. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of most seats, but it does it's job just fine. It will also take up less room front to back rear facing than the Triumph.

All of the above! Please do not look to Consumer Reports for carseat recs and ratings. OP, we have 3 Cosco Scenera's in my DH, mom's, and MIL's cars. It's an inexpensive seat that does it's job well.
