Hello there ladies. I'm a Ftm and have been on the bump since finding out I was pregnant last fall. Our LOW was supposed to be due June 13 and was born 15wks early (25wks) on leap year day and weighed 1lb 15oz . I'm actually from canada, but we were in Las Vegas for a "quick" two day trip when I went into labor. Looks like we'll be here for quite a long time.
Our little boy has been doing exceptional, he was breathing on his own for the first week and was put on the lowest settings of the ventilator the last few days as he had ligation surgery to close his PDA valve. They're hoping to starting on boobies milk today, hoping he takes to it well.
Something tells me illegal be on here lots the next while, it's hard and an emotional rollercoaster for sure and being so far from home doesn't help.
Thanks and hope to get to know you all better
Re: introduction
Welcome (although no one wants to end up here).
What part of Canada are you from? I'm from southern Ontario.

Welcome. So much for a 2 day quick trip, ah?? Unfort, I, too was on a vacation/camping trip in NH (im from MAss) last summer when my water broke & I ended up in Maine for 4 mos.. It's hard.. where are you staying while there? is there a Ronald Mcdonald house close by?
I'm glad your son is doing well.. utilize the preemie resource blog above for very inspiring stories.. Good luck
Thanks everyone. Definitely never expect to end up on this board but now going through it all the support is so important. I'm from alberta. Sorry you too had you baby so far from home. Thank heavens for the Ronald McDonald House, we will be staying here for the time being
I did get to hold my little guy today, how amazing!

I'm another one who had something similar happen. I was on a business trip 3 hours from home when my son was born. We lived in a hotel for 10 weeks while my son was in the NICU.
Medtwin's suggestion of a Ronald McDonald house is a good one. We found an extended stay hotel for about $250 / week, which worked out okay.
Glad to hear your son is doing well! If you have any other questions, let us know. I'm sorry you have to be here, but this board is a great source of support.
