It's a liver issue, BTW. It's essentially when the path between your gallbladder and liver get blocked and bile ends up in your blood. It can lead to still birth. The main symptom is itching in your hands and feet. Probably should have included that, sorry.
I suffered with Cholestasis with DS and am currently being tested this pregnancy. I was induced at 38 weeks and DS was prefectly healthy. My symptoms went away as soon as I delivered. It is not pleasant and I know how the itching can drive you crazy. From what I have read and from what my doc says, your best bet is to be induced before the 38 week mark just to be safe. It is a good thing that you caught it. Please message me if you need any further info.
Sorry, just saw that you are a few days from your due date. I am sure your doctors will closely monitor you and baby and come up with a plan. Best of luck!
Yup. *** of an Itch. I had it AWFUL with DD and was induced at 35w5d. She was perfect, and the symptoms went away immediately. I noticed a bit of itching and right upper quadrant pain this week so I had blood drawn and will find out the results on Monday. Sry you're going through this, but at least it is at the very end! Good luck!

Wow, just 2 days before your due date? I started having signs of it at about 27 weeks and was told it was "normal". About 3 days later I became extremely sick. Thought it may have been a stomach bug since I have 2 kids in daycare. But it didn't get much better and ended up losing about 12 pounds. Finally got my doctor to see me and the day before had found out an aunt (that is my age, weird I know) had it. It took a week to get the results back from my bile salts back. My liver results weren't fabulous but my bile salts are through the roof. I am on max dose of meds and even a little more than I should be for my size. The MFM doctor said it was the most severe case she has seen. But its very rare so I don't know how severe is severe. They are hoping to get them down to a level that the baby can stay put until 36 weeks but have told me to be ready at 34 weeks. Since the harm is more toward the baby it really freaks me out. I see a MFM doctor and my normal OB. I see them both once a week.
