Cheap jogging stroller recommendation for NYC

 Hi All,

I'm looking for a budget jogging stroller, mostly for jogs in Central Park (I'd jog in the bike lane/asphalt). LO is only 2 months,is there any stroller I could attach the car seat to?Or any jogging stroller that can be used when she's 3 month?

I already have an Uppababy Vista, which takes up a lot of space, so something foldable would be nice... if that even exists. Thanks

Re: Cheap jogging stroller recommendation for NYC

  • There aren't any jogging strollers on the market that say in the instructions that they recommend for young babies. Some start at about 8 months, most here say age 1. That includes use with a car seat. I know some ladies on the Health and Exercise board do, but I personally wouldn't.

For future use, if you have a small budget, they seem to like the In Step or Jeep.  I'm not a fan, I'd try to find a used Bob, or better. I've seen them used for about the same price as the inexpensive used. All of those do fold. Happy hunting.

No jogging stroller is suited for 3 months, it's pretty universal that you aren't supposed to jog until at least 6 months.  And never with the carseat attached.

I am of the mind that cheap is not the way to go with jogging strollers, but if you are on a budget I'd look at Jeep or Baby Trend.  Or try for a used BOB on Craigslist.

  • You shouldn't jog with a baby until they are six months and older. Just an FYI. We have a Chariot Cougar that we love to jog and bike with, but it's not an inexpensive option.

Also, please do not jog in the bike lane. As a cyclist, I would like to tell you that it is extremely obnoxious and dangerous when people choose to jog in the bike lane. It's called a bike lane for a reason. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's not appropriate. I've had to swerve to avoid joggers, and I've nearly gotten hit by cars.

  •  I guess I have a few months before I can jog with LO.I never thought about looking for a used BOB, but I like the idea!

Kelbrian, sorry, when I meant jogging in the bike lane, I was referring to the asphalt,it's not only a bike lane, there is a lane for walkers/runners. I just wanted to point out, that I'd not be running on the trail with the stroller, only on the even surface (which is the bike/runner lane).

Gotcha :) I see what you mean now. We have something similar on the lakefront here.

The Baby Trend stroller gets recommended a lot by some serious runners on the Health&Fitness board on the Nest. It's $190.  That would be a good choice for asphalt, I think.
