Made First Batch of Homemade Baby Food and Q?

Hmm just made my first batch of homemade baby food...sweet potatoes ..it will be L/O first time! Can you use water to get it to a real thin consistency instead of formula? I use powder formula with his room temp water filtered through his brita container. I did already add 4 oz of formula and it still looks thick. Can I use water to save on cost of having to make formula just to thin? The water would be filtered like hes been getting mixed with the formula. BTW-I bought organic sweet potato steams in the bag from Whole Foods.

  • I made homemade baby food for DD1 and never added formula.  I will be making it again for DD2 soon and probably won't  add breast milk or formula either.

  • I only used water.  I thinned it before I stored it so I cute just warm it and feed.

  • with all the food I've made for DD, I've added BM after the fact. So I pureed them, froze them in ice cube trays then once defrosted, I'd add some warm BM to thin it out a bit (which warms it a bit too). You can surely use water (i did with fruits) but I waited until I was about to feed DD because some foods you'll notice defrost a little more watery than others.
