What grade are they and how many kids are there?
DS is in kindy. He started out with 24 kids, but 2 kids got transferred into his class b/c the parents didn't like the other kindy teacher. So, there's 26. She doesn't have any sort of aides in the classroom with her, nor does she use much parent volunteer help in the actual classroom. Frankly, I don't know how she stays patient all day long with 26 five & six-year-olds.
Re: s/o - how many kids are in your child's class?
19 last year in 4K with 1 teacher and 1 aid
23 this year in 5K with 1 teacher, no aids, and some parent volunteers

DD- prek- 26 kids, 1 teacher, 1 aid (too many kids imo)
DS- grade 1- 22 kids, 1 teacher
Where I live in prek and k there is always an aid once there are more than 18 kids in the class. The govenment that was voted in last year made an election promise to only have 20 or fewer kids in classes until grade 3. Now they are trying to figure out how to accomplish that. I would love if it went into practice b/c I teach grade 2 and have 26 kids.
First Grade -- 21 kids; one teacher
Kindergarten last year -- 22 kids; one teacher and one aide
3 boys (15, 8, 6), 1 girl (4)
Kinder- 20 kids, including her. Just their teacher, no aids or anything.
Was 19 for awhile but they got a new student 2 weeks ago.

This year he's in PreK and there are 14 kids.
Next year he will attend half day K because we can't afford the tuition for full day. They said that the half day classes tend to be between 15-18 kids. The full day classes are larger and are between 22-25.
DS - December 2006
DD - December 2008
preschool - 16 with two teachers
kindergarten - 15 for the am class, 15 for the pm. The classes overlap a hour and half each day so the one teacher has 30 kids for that time.
First - 29 or 30 (one or two left and then we got another student). One teacher.
Small classes around here are a thing of the past. They are totally cutting the schools budget and laying off teachers making big classes. Sucks.
Christmas 2011
Kindie - 19, they started with 20. The incoming kindie class this year is unusually small, they started with 3 classes of 20 kids each. The older grades run from about 24 to 28 per class. I'm really happy about the small class size.
In my sons class there are a couple kids with impairments(my son being one of them) so there is a classroom aide in there most of the time, as well as the special ed teacher and social worker in there from time to time to work on social skills. And parent volunteers a few times a month (for special things, like Math Game Day).
DD is in 2nd grade. This year she has 16 with 1 teacher and a shared aide.
1st grade and Kindy it was 12 with 1 teacher and an aide
DD - 3 yo preschool class - 24 kids, 3 teachers, which they usually break up into 3 groups of 8.
DS - Kindie - 23 kids with one para.
23 or 24? Somewhere in that range. Kids have transferred in and out - I've sort of lost track. DD1 is in Kindergarten.
ETA: DS is in preschool and there are 16 kids in his class.

my son is supposed to be in pre-k but they moved him up to the kindy class. not our district, but our private school. there are 12 kids total, but some kids come in the morning and leave and others come in the afternoon since it's kindergarten age kids (kindy is half day in our district). there are usually 6 or 7 kids at one time. it really is fantastic being that small. my ds has learned so much this year.
i think next year in our district for kindy there are about 15- 20 kids in a class. i know they try and keep the class sizes small.
