Application approved Dec '11 Mar '12: Homestudy interrupted by change in Uganda requirements - where do we go from here? After searching and searching, back with Uganda but with our homestudy agency's program. Homestudy complete July 19 USCIS I-600A submitted July 20. Biometrics appointments arrived Aug 17; fingerprinted Aug 21; 171H received Sept 25th. On the wait list Oct 1st: #18. By Jan 25th, we're #13! Come home, baby A!
The pictures really tell the story. The boys are so happy to have one another again, it's unbelievable how much they love they share. It overwhelms us on a daily basis to see them play so well together, all day long. Of course, we're thrilled with the whole arrangement, too!
J's hilarious (thank goodness for the Serious family!), expressive, and such a joy to be around. His favorite word is "why?" He is starting to figure out what this change means, that we'll be leaving soon, and that his life will be very different, including a new language. At the end of his going away party at the orphanage, they asked if he had anything to say, and in addition to thanking everyone, he told them all that he would return from the US to visit, just as M had. It really made everyone tear up and smile all at the same time.
M's doing awesome. He's really happy to be able to have this time in Peru, and he's seriously been so caring and sweet with J. Without any exaggeration, he's the best big brother; we couldn't have hoped for it to go so well. He's also a little nervous about how J's addition will impact him in terms of our love, which is completely understandable, especially since so much of our attention during J's transition has to be on J. We are doing our best to help him with that as much as we can.
In other ways, M's been a superstar. He's become really great at putting up with all the inconveniences of travel, is working on school work almost daily while we're here, and helps around the house when he can. In general (at home), he's gotten really well adjusted and l think loves our life. He trusts us completely and is starting to think about what his future might hold, which is *huge*.
That is so great!! Yay!!! Are they more sure about J's age? So weird for M not to know exactly...he does look older than 9, but then his new brother is little so maybe it's just a sharper contrast. So glad it all went smoothly. I have been thinking about you guys a lot!

Yeah, we know J's age pretty exactly. He's small for his age, at least in height.
We think M's really about 11.5 or 12, based on his bone aging test, his teeth, and his size/biological maturity.
M grew 8 inches in 6 months, and over a foot overall in the 18 months he's been with us. His lower body has also filled out and is catching up with his upper. It's amazing what a working heart, plenty of nutritious food, and some vitamins can do! We're expecting a growth spurt in J, but not as drastic, since he doesn't have the same heart issue.
These pictures make me smile so big. SO very happy for your family!

They say that kids grow a ton when they finally find their forever home. It's been true for both my DD and my DS (12). I am sure it's partly all the love (as well as good medical care!)
My 12 year old DS has grown 8 inches in the last 6 months...onset of puberty here for sure. His voice is changing too. Eek! I thought we had a lot more time before this.
