airplane with kids: Q about taking snacks & drinks

DH & I can't remember what we did 2 years ago with DD when we flew. I know I took snacks & a juice & milk cup.

What are the rules for flying with kids & taking snacks & juice/milk through security?

Re: airplane with kids: Q about taking snacks & drinks

  • You can take anything reasonable for the comfort of your child. I had a bottle of water, tons of snacks and 4  juice boxes plus 2 sippy/straw cups already filled with water. if its an open container like a sippy, they wave a thingy over it to check to make sure its ok. If closed like the juice boxes, they send it through the scanner. We flew from MN to WA to CA to HI and then back to MN without any issues.

  • Yep, a baby is pretty much a ticket to bring any amount.  I had at least three full sippy cups, three bottles of water, and a few juice boxes with me when we flew in January.

  • Yep, ditto pps... but I just wanted to say, be aware of cranky agents. We're always fine going through security in Detroit, but in Phoenix, they almost always give us a hard time w/ liquids. When DD2 had just turned 1 (like a month after her bday), we flew with the Horizon individual milk boxes, unopened. The Phoenix TSA agent basically told me I could either go in for 20 minute questioning about the liquids, or dump the boxes. There were 3 of them for the 2 kids. I was not happy. Ya, like a mom flying alone w/ a 1 and a 3 y/o is going to go in for 20 freaking minutes of questioning.
