Glad = rule breaker.

Back story:  Joanie's pre-K-3 class is a part of a private Christian school. Her school's dress code includes polo shirts embroidered with the school's name.  Parents purchase the shirts, but I was told that all embroidery is to be done by the school (actually, farmed out to some local unnamed person).

Well, since the beginning of the school year, I have obtained an embroidery machine and digitizing software.  There really isn't too much that I am unable to embroider at this point.  Thus, her little four-letter school name, in arial font, with green thread...not so difficult.

The rule breaking that's about to happen?  Yep.  You guessed it.  I am going to embroider some of her shirts she received as birthday presents.

::gasp::

The horrors!

    Can I call you if dd's next school has embroidered uniforms?  There's a new biz for you!

  • Well...I figure I pretty much just confessed to the whole wide world.  lol  But, if someone confronts me, I fully intend to stand my ground.  There is NO REASON why I should PAY someone to do something that other people pay me to do.  I mean, for realsies...
  • Some rules too stupid not to be broken.

  • I lost the link to my flame-throwing sewing machine.  Alas, luvlie created my new avatar, and I lurve it.  It matches other graphics which can be found *cough* other places *cough*.
  • Unless its a SAHM whose only source of income is embroidering those shirts.

    Personally, I'd ask around first to see where that business is going to.

    This would be nearly impossible.  90% (at least) of the embroidery is done in the first three or four weeks of the school year.  I don't know how anyone could possibly make things work with just that much business.

    I totally agree with this, no need what so ever! :)

  • They'd have to stay open with other embroidery on the side, much like you're going to be doing.

    I'd still check it out.  Something about it doesn't sit right with me.

  • That's awesome! When I went to school they did the same thing and it cost my parents $$ every year!
  • That's ridiculous that they make you go to one person anyhow.  That's just unethical IMO.  It's your money, not theirs.  If they were paying for it, maybe, but it should still be an option, not a rule.
