I mainly lurk on this board but would love some perspective from moms of older kids. When does the daycare-related sickness slow down a little bit? My son has been congested almost nonstop since he started daycare in August, had a stomach virus, and was diagnosed with RSV last week. I am generally very happy with our work/daycare situation, but I feel so bad that he is constantly battling cold and other illnesses.
When does it get better? Does it get better?
Re: Daycare moms - when does the sickness stop
Our first 3-4 months in daycare were really tough but then it got a lot better. Not sure if that was the length of time or DS' age (he started daycare at nearly 8 months).
It does get better. My daughter got RSV a year ago. It blows. Not going to lie, because with every cold now comes coughing problems. But.....this year, she's not sick as much, and the RSV repercussions with sickness have subsided. It's just what happens in those germ factories. They wash and bleach constantly, but it is inevitable. I was a daycare kid, and I remember when I got to kindergarten, I wasn't absent as much as my friends in elementary school. I may have gotten the flu once a year, but that was before they insisted kids get the flu shot every year like they do now. What I've learned is that it's way harder on us as the kids. Like right now, I've been sick for a week with wicked virus. My kid has been coughing. Me, I'm laying on the cough all "woe is me." My kid...she's running around like nothing's wrong.
Moral of the story...it does get better. Promise. Hang in there momma!

was wondering the same thing
LO started daycare at 5months and has been only been well a few days...always sick
This is our house too! My poor DD has been sick so many times since starting DC at 3.5 months. She's had numerous colds, a stomach bug, Croup twice, an ear infection, and just yesterday developed a high fever! I thought she was getting better and hasn't had any type of fever in a week but guess not. I'm glad to hear that it stopped around a year for many. I'm hoping things start to get better for her soon.
