How old to stop bathing together?

I have a 4 year old DD and a 2.5 year old DS. We always bathe them together and it's never been an issue. They know they are different and really don't pay any attention to it. They also will be in the bathroom when the other is using it. I think it's encouraged DS to potty train because his big sis uses the potty. Does anyone have any advice on when we should start bathing separately?

My oldest (6) asks to shower by himslef, buuuutttt... they all wanted to take a bath together the other day! But they are all boys and thankfully the youngest has finally figured out he has his own penis to play with ; ) He use to torture his brothers over the summer in the tub or shower.

obviously I have an only, but I would be inclined to say when one or both of them starts to be skeeved out by it and requests to stop. until then, to me its fine. Or you know, high school :)

This. Ds turned 4 in January and much prefers to shower with either me or dh at night. We will stop when it gets awkward for either party. Right now, he doesn't care at all about our body parts - only that he gets to "rinse and spit" the shower door when he showers with us :)

  • DS1 is 4.5 and my twins will be 27m tomorrow.  We put them all in the bath together.  I'm sure what works for us will be different because we have all boys.  I don't think we'll separate them for baths until DS1 can shower by himself.

    This is just hilarious!

  • I wondered this too but really it just didn't seem right at a point, the summer my DS turned 5, DD was 3.5 was when they stopped.  DS actually didn't want to take baths anymore at all and kept asking about DD's lack of penis (even though I've explained it to him a million times, he just couldn't accept that she wasn't going to grow one, lol) so we were done.

That's hilarious! Quite a few months ago, DS was standing up and whacking his penis from side to side when DD reached up and gave it a little whack too. I wanted to laugh so bad but took it as an opportunity to talk about not touching other's private areas and also not letting other's touch yours. DS is all about the penis right now. We're potty training so he now has full access without a diaper on! DD hasn't noticed him trying to pull it out the side of his underwear luckily. Thanks for all the advice ladies!

My six year old likes her own space, and is now asking to be bathed without her four year old sister.  We live in quite a large house, and I am transitioning the 6 year old into bathing on her own.  Each of my girl's have a private bath attached to their bedroom.  Leah is going to need help for sometime.  She has tubes in her ears.
