If you love your washer/dryer and/or kitchen appliances...

We move into our new house in June, and are replacing the appliances before we move in.  Unfortunately, the laundry room is not on the upper level like I've always dreamed of, but it is on the main floor, which is a step up from the basement where it is at our current house.  Should we go with a front loader or top loader?

Also, please recommend your oven (single or double), microwave, dishwasher, and fridge.

Thanks!

Re: If you love your washer/dryer and/or kitchen appliances...

  • We built our house 1.5 years ago, so the kitchen appliances came with the home.  We have the SS Whirlpool Gold package and I have been pleased with them thus far.  The dishwasher has the hidden control panel, which I like.  We have a gas oven/range combo with convection oven, which I also love for baking.  The fridge is a french door design and has the water dispenser located INSIDE the fridge and away from curious little hands!Smile  My IL's just renovated their kitchen a couple of years ago and replaced all of their appliances.  They bought a Maytag hidden control dishwasher (which she LOVES and gets rave reviews), a LG french door fridge, and the Electroux 4 burner range and a double oven.  She has been pleased with all of them.

We have a Samsung front loading steam washer&dryer set.  I have also been pleased with these.  I know some people have issues with front loaders that develop a smell, but this has never  happened to me.  In our previous house, we had front loading Whirlpool w/d set and I loved those too.

  • I love my Samsung washer and dryer that we bought last year.  I got a top loader as I never plan to stack them and a lot of my friends complained about the gasket in the front loaders getting smelly.

Our kitchen appliances all came with the house...Kenmore oven and dishwasher and LG fridge.  Haven't had any problems other than the control panel on the oven breaking (which was an easy $100 fix).

  • We have bosch appliances through out the house, we love them. Our washer/dryer are front loading and I wouldn't have it any other way. The smell has not been an issue for us either. As long as you leave the door open after using it, you should be fine.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE my oven and dishwasher.

I have WOLF Double ovens and a Miele dishwasher. Not sure what your price point is.

I don't like my fridge, but it works just fine (GE Profile). I have my eye on a Samsung. My microwave stinks.......but I rarely use it so I won't recommend it.

That Wolf looks amazing.  I'm not sure what to do as far as an oven goes.  We are going to completely gut the kitchen in the next year or two (we were going to have it done before moving in at the end of June, but the contractor said with the amount we want done, it would be cutting it really close time-wise with baby coming. We're also having the mud room re-done, hardwood floors refinished (and installed in the master), and a wall put up to make a 4 bedroom situation into a 5 bedroom).

We definitely want to replace the appliances before we move in because they are really old white appliances and they are kind of eye sores.  The only issue is, a double oven can't fit in the current single oven hole, so when we gut the kitchen we'll start over with a new double oven.  I feel like it's sort of wasteful to replace the oven now, but at the same time, I want the kitchen to be as nice as possible for the time being until we renovate.  We've been in a 1940's home for 6 years now, and just had the kitchen renovated two months ago to sell the house.  We don't want to go back!  LOL  I think selling the semi-new oven probably won't be a big deal, since we definitely want a double when we renovate.

So, that's the dilemma. I will bookmark the Wolf for next year.  Thanks!

  • You won't regret getting a WOLF. It's awesome. Can't rave enough about it. Does everything - has all the bells and whistles. Their customer service is amazing.

I also have a 6-burner range top with a pro hood that's WOLF.........

So keep them on the list!!!!
