Just wondering how long you plan on continuing to ride? A friend of mine rode up until her third trimester so I was planning on trying to ride for as long as possible as long as I was comfortable. Just interested to hear what others might be doing.
a friend of mine is in her 21st week and she has been riding since she found out she was pregnant. she lives on a farm so she rides almost every day. ask ur OB is the best thing ya can do. im sure they will say just dont ride out of ur comfort zone. good luck! i miss riding moving to the city sucks no more horses
I stopped riding when we started our IVF cycle and won't ride again until after LO is born. I just don't want to take any chances of something happening. I would talk to your OB and just do what you are comfortable with. Just be careful.
Trying To Conceive since November 2009
Dx: PCOS and MFI
IUI#1-4 all BFN
IVF#1 January (4R, 4M, 1F) BFP
Colt was born on 10/27 at 11:50pm. 6lbs and 19 1/4"
I don't have my horse anymore but I occasionally ride at a friend's barn. Since it's easy enough for me to just stop riding that's what I'm doing.
If I still had my horse I would probably ride but at no more than a walk/trot and I certainly wouldn't be jumping anymore.
I second the PP who suggested talking to your OB to assess the risks. Riding your own horse is one thing but riding horses you're not 100% familiar with or who are green and unpredictable is a different story.
ETA: Not sure if this is a possibility for you but when my trainer was PG, she had some of the more experienced girls at the barn ride her training horses while she was directing from the ground and it worked out really well for everyone. She was safe, the girls got some great experience on different horses and "free lessons", and the horses were trained. GL!
