Stupid, tiny flies

We have a hatch of tiny little black flies somewhere in the house.  I have killed about 7 million today and everytime I look there are more.  It seems like they are originating from the livingroom.  Anyone have any suggestions about how to get rid of them?  I vaccum everyday and try not to keep crumbs around (but with a toddler...).

  • Uuuugh.  No suggestions for you (sorry!), but that just stinks.

  • Well, last fall we had a mouse hanging about, so I will take the flies.  But they are ultra annoying!
  • I feel your pain that happened to us about 3 months ago. It was horrible! I don't know where they were coming from. I got so fed up and used raid on them as much as I didn't want to. There was nothing else I could think to do.

  • I'm not sure how good an idea this is, but when my sister

had teeny horrid flies, she opened a bottle of cheap sweet

wine and left it on her counter.  After about a week, it

was full of dead tiny flies and they weren't all over

    her apartment.

    Sorry I'm not more help!

  • Cheap, sweet wine...hmmm...I think I may have to give that a try.  Thanks for the idea!
  • We had that happen to us a few years ago when we got a ficus from Home Depot.  The only way we were able to get rid of them was to move the tree outside.  Have you gotten any new plants lately?  They may be in the soil.
