I couldn't believe it! We went for our first u/s today and saw one beautiful baby with a heartbeat. The doctor was able to see the heart beat right away and it looked very strong! It was surreal. I go for another u/s on 3/29 before being released to my OB.
s/n: For those who have been on Met for PCOS how long did your doctors tell you to stay on it? My RE said I could quit now, but everything I read seems like it could be beneficial to stay on it till the end of first tri. I'm wondering if it would hurt anything to keep taking it at least until my next ultrasound. Thoughts?

My RE told me they usually let the OB decide when to stop Met. I'm assuming I'll be on it until at least 10 weeks, since that's probably around the first time I will see the OB.

I'm still on Metformin. I was considered IR, and it's debatable whether I'm also diabetic/GD. I monitor my blood sugar, and have random high numbers. I'll be on it for the duration, and plan to see an endocrinologist after baby for a real good work up.

I am so happy for you hunterjumper!!! Yay for seeing the heartbeat today!!!
To answer your question, I am on Metformin (I am non-IR PCOS), last I was told I would be on it until the 11th week of pregnancy. However, at my next appt. (when we see the heartbeat), I am going to ask him if I can discountinue it sooner b/c I am non-IR & really don't see the point.

I had my first u/s yesterday too! It was wonderful!
As far as the Met, my OB said that she wanted me to stay on it until 12 weeks. She also switched me from PIO to Crionine (sp) until 12 weeks as well.
Congratulations! How exciting to hear the heartbeat!
Congrats on the great u/s!!
I have PCOS with IR, I am still on the MET and will be for my entire pregnancy. My RE and OB both told me that because of the IR and my weight that I was at high risk for GD and staying on the MET can help reduce my risk for GD.
