Hump Day Pump Day: EP Check in

Morning Ladies!

Sorry the check in has been MIA...I've had one hell of a month at work.

I am so sad that at the end of this month I will be weaning my little girl since she will be one year old.  I can't believe it!  We spend so much time getting our supply right, routine right, and then just when you think you have it in a good place...you change it again.  I know I don't have to stop, but I know that DD is a great eater, so her getting enough nutrition is not going to be a problem.  She loves all types of veggies and fruits.  She will also get WCM.

Is there anyone who would like to take over the weekly check-in and also be an administrator with me on the FB group?  Just let me know so that I can add you.

You all have been so inspiring to me and have helped me get this far.  I am going to cherish every pump session from now until the end of the month.  I never thought I'd say that, but I am sad to stop pumping.

Please share your pumping accomplishments/struggles/obstacles below so we can get everyone to their goals!

  • WOW that is a great accomplishment!  You have a lot to be proud of!

I am taking the day off work so I am home (nursing) today.  I am glad b/c my pumping output was going down by half and I need her to help me bring it back up.  She is waking from her nap now....time to eat!

Congrats to you on making it to the 1 year mark.  Amazing accomplishment.

  • You are an inspiration!  One year is quite the accomplishment.  I want to quit pumping so badly right now!  My guy is just over 7 months and I've been EP'ing since birth.  I've tried several times, unsuccessfully, to reintroduce the breast :(  Right now I am taking it one month at a time.  I don't always post here, but I've enjoyed reading posts on this thread.

I have tried so many times also...it just wasn't going to work.  I think if I would have had the right support at the beginning I could have done it...and DD could have.  But what is important is that she got the right nutrition from her mama!  I took it one day at a time to get where I am...sometimes that's all you can do!

  • I'm a lurker, but thought I'd jump in. I EP except 2feedings/day and weekends. DS is 4 months and we are doing grest. Pumping sucks, but my goal is a year. I typically get 20-25oz per day, but I want more. Fenugreek doesn't have a big impact on me, so I pump to replace what he eats in a day and I have about a week in the freezer. You irksome are great, I've learned a ton so far.

  • Congrat'z.  I just started EP'ing over 11 weeks ago and you ladies are my inspiration.  My goal was 6 months but seeing how DS responds to my milk made both DH and I push for 1 year.  I know that there will be ups and downs but I am glad to provide DS with the best milk on earth that is meant for him.  I currently have stock in a deep freezer (DH had to buy since I took up our freezer space).  Then last week started to battle with mastitis but the good news is that I caught it in the beginning and needed only medication to treat it and it has not affected DS one bit.  I also battled with a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance but that corrected itself.

  • I've been EP from the start and it looks like I will be making my 1 year goal with the help of a huge freezer stash. I am currently pumping 4 times a day and am slowly starting to wean. I want to be down to only a morning and evening pump by DS 1st birthday and then slowly figure out how to drop those pumps without being completely uncomfortable.?

  • Congrats to you!  What a great thing you've done for your DD this past year!

I hit 3 months of EP last week.  That was my minimum goal, since DD was getting her tubes put in then and I wanted to do as much as I could to try to prevent ear infections until then.  So I was happy to make it at least to that.  I'm still aiming to do this for a year.

I came back to work two weeks ago and it's actually easier to EP now that I'm back at work than it was at home, since I don't have to worry about what the kiddos are doing while I'm pumping and I'm more routined at work than I was at home. I have to get up at 5am to pump though, ugh!  It takes so much more time with the 20+ minutes of pumping and the 20-30 minutes of feeding DD, it's an extra hour onto my morning.  Totally worth it, but dang, I'm tired!

  • Congrats on making it to 1 yr, that is just awesome!!!

I've been EPing for just over 5 months now and it's going pretty well. We recently bought a small chest freezer to store my milk and we're starting to rotate the frozen now. I pump 4 times per day during the week and 3 times per day on weekends and usually produce 40-50oz. DS has severe eczema and so he needs to stay on BM until we can get into the allergist and see what is going on with him. I plan to EP until a year but I really hate the morning and night sessions right now because that and meal planning/the gym since I'm on Weight Watchers takes up all my free time but it's all worth it.
