I recently joined a playgroup. One of the women is due next month and the playgroup is throwing her a small shower. This is her third child and first boy. They thought they were done having kids (fertility problems) and then got a big surprise. So I totally get the need for the shower.
My question is.....Is it bad form to give a gift of gently used, nice clothing bought from a resale or consignment shop? I don't know this woman very well and don't want to spend a ton of money on a gift, but at the same time I don't want commit a huge faux pas. My kids' wardrobes are about 90% from resales, etc so I'm totally comfortable with it, but I don't know if there is some rule out there that says gifts must be new.
Re: Baby shower etiquette question
Since you don't know how she feels about resales, I would just shop the clearance rack at Target, Walmart, etc. for some new clothes.
This.
This!
Ditto. You don't have to spend a lot at all, but you can still get something new. Get a sale sleeper for $8 and be done with it.
Thanks ladies. I will be buying something new.
