XP: Bath Time! *Adalyn update 3/7*

Hello everyone! Sorry that I haven't had a chance to update as often, but I'm spending more time at the hospital Kangarooing her, and there just aren't enough hours in the day!

Feeding and Weight
She is up to 24ml every 3 hours, and last night she weighed in at 2 pounds 8.5 ounces (1.15 kg)!   I think that it must be extra kangaroo time! She's got another 12 ounces or so to go before she can wear clothes, but I am so excited for that! It could be here in 2 weeks! I've got to get a preemie onesie! :)

Breathing
She is still holding steady on the CPAP, needing an oxygen requirement in the 30s.  She LOVES laying on momma, and has been in the 20s for some of our kangaroo time.  Yesterday we even went down to 23% for a good hour.  I think that tomorrow or the next day they will retry her on the HiFlo nasal cannula.  Let's hope that she doesn't fail that again!

Kangaroo Time
LOVE IT! She loves it. It is an absolute win/win.  We are doing it for even longer periods of time, sometimes 2 hours at a time, twice a day.  She is able to keep her body temperature skin-to-skin with me and has never had a problem with her temperature.

Miscellaneous
I got to give her a bath Sunday night!  It was so nice to see her without all the wires connected.  It was also a little scary, since I couldn't look at the monitor to check her oxygenation! However, the nurse was explaining me what to look for and how her lips would turn blue first.  (She didn't turn blue at all).  She is so cute, and it is weird (but awesome) to see her without all the face mask or tagaderm, etc.  I can't wait for the day that I will be able to see her whole face without any tube, tagaderm, or mask! I read the other day on the Preemie board that they were excited for when their baby went "wireless"--I thought it was hilarious!  It will be here soon enough, I know, but it is yet another milestone that I'm looking forward to! Smile

  • Great update! I love reading about how well she's doing. I remember giving Landen his first bath. I was so nervous! Then we were taking too long and he got mad. Sounds like your first time went great! Keeping my fingers crossed for the cannula.
