Need suggestions for a gift for DH

My husband and I bought a house in December that needed A LOT of renovating. Shortly after buying the house I found out I was pregnant so I haven't been able to help with the painting, lifting boxes, and just can't stand to smell the fumes of the newly varnished floor. I feel awful because DH gets home from work and then goes to the new house to work on renovations for hours for the last 2 months while I'm at our current place laying on the couch.

I want to get him something really nice to show him how much I appreciate all his hard work, but I just don't know what to get him. He is complaining how sore he has been, but he isn't into massages so I just don't know what to get him. Take him out for a nice dinner? Buy him new TV? Something sports related? (he's a Jets and Yankees fan). Any ideas would be much appreciated!

This is a favorite thing to do for me, as well.  You could also do a fancy take-out night where you order in from someplace really nice (i.e., not Dominos).  Or just a fancy cooking night.

  • Sports tickets are a good idea, or maybe something big for him for the house? An addition to his man room if he has one? And give him a massage yourself?

  • What about using the money to hire someone to paint a room or finish a task he is dreading. Then he could have a night off with you and mark something off his list.
  • I think a new recliner would be an awesome gift, really shows that you appreciate his work and want him to enjoy the house by sitting down and relaxing! I bought my husband a new 55" TV for the basement he renovated for us, and let me just say that he appreciates it! Especially since we won't be going out to the movies as often after baby gets here!

I second that motion!  He won't be expecting the massage and if you have the item for his man-cave delivered while he's not at the house he'll be doubly surprised!
