leg swelling at end of day?

so i go to bed with my legs practically doubled in size...and i wake up in the morning and they are back to normal. it's actually a pretty obvious difference especially if i have been on my feet a lot that day. anyone else have this?  (i dont have pre-e). im 33w2d.

Re: leg swelling at end of day?

  • oh yeah, my legs were insane at the end!  and if I sat down for a long time without putting my feet up, they got giant as well.  I think it's pretty normal, I had the same with my singletone pregnancy.

  • Yup, that happened to me.  My doctor suggested elevating my feet during the day as much as possible, and that helped a lot.  But I ended up having to buy shoes a size and width bigger than my usual!

This. If it makes you feel any better, my feet were all skinny and cute again within 2 weeks of my c-sec. I'm a teacher so I was on my feet a lot during the day and it was kindof unavoidable, but I tried to put my feet up in the recliner as soon as I got home every day. Good excuse to make DH do all the household chores! Wink

  • Yes, I had it and just have your BP checked just in case. I didn't present with Pre-E either when I first started having swelling and 32w, but then my BP was also high. It took about 2 and 1/2 weeks for me to show protein in my urine (so it can turn, just be aware). They were originally thinking gestational hypertension. You could also just have swelling that has nothing to do with any of that (I noticed it started also when my belly "dropped").

  • Yeah I have it...not as bad as yours it sounds, but my ankles are swollen after each work day. It's always gone when I wake up and I am always happy to see my small ankles again! My BP is low - 110/60 as of yesterday, so I am not super concerned about it.

I have a desk job, and try to prop up my feet as much as I can, but it's hard finding a comfortable way to do it at my desk. For me it seems like laying down completely is really the best way for it to go down.

I started wearing the Prenatal Cradle Mini to work last week and it seems to have helped some with the swelling.

yeah i get my BP checked all the time - well every week, along with the urine.  never any protein and my BP is always super low.  like 104/65.  my legs are fine in the morning - super skinny!!  then by the end of the day it's like they doubled in size!  i feel ok about it bc they always go back to "normal" by the morning.  this happened with my son as well but of course, not until like 36-37 weeks or something.
