Adoption

Hi... and help

Hi Ladies.  DH and I have always been open to adoption.  After several failed treatments we are looking into starting the process.  In doing some research I find that I am becoming more confused.  Should we go with a large agency, small, law center, law firm... It's really overwhelming!!  How did you choose?  Any advice is much appreciated.

Re: Hi... and help

  • Welcome.... and I am sorry for your struggles.

We have a good FAQ at the top of this board which might be a good resource for you.

As to where to start... I personally think there is not a right answer.  Check out different open houses, schedule meetings, etc.  See what feels right to you.  There are pros and cons to each choice you make.

Thank you! I didn't even think to look at the FAQ link! ;)

  • We are early in the process too, trying to find the right agency for us. We attended our first open house informational meeting at a large agency and it did not feel "right" to either of us. We are going to "interview" (attend other info meetings with other agencies) until we find one that leaves us with a good feeling.

I guess I am looking to come away with a "warm & fuzzy" feeling and we came away from that meeting more alarmed and depressed than warm & fuzzy. And we have researched adoption a lot, plus DH's sister was adopted as an infant and my parents were birth parents to a son before I was born, so I feel like we understand all sides of adoption, from all our families perspectives.

    Baby #1 due 2/10/14!
