    Turn it in & leave my name. My brother got $50 that way. If you turn it in without a name the employee who took it gets it. Theres only a certain number of days they hold it for claiming.

    Are the cameras watching me? Is it a set-up for that show "What Would You Do?" Is there a sale going on at the mall? Just kidding ... I recently found a wallet with a lot of cash in it at a Target. I turned it in. I couldn't live with the guilt.

    oops- I clicked keep it!! And I feel guilty for it!! lol...My DH would say (what's that saying) "losers weepers?" (complete brain fart :/) Plus- things happen for a reason Wink

    I would leave my name but I wouldn't leave the money. You can't trust the employees not to pocket it. I lost my rent check one time at a Neighborhood Market and a good Samaritan picked it up, left their name and # for me to call.

    I did this once when I was in middle school and ended up getting the $10 anyway because no one claimed it.

    I'd have to turn it in. I would feel so incredibly guilty and could never enjoy it if I kept it.

    Grocery store- return it, but, if I found it randomly on the street, I would keep it.

    I found $100 on the street one day.  I ended up sitting down at a nearby bench and waited an hour to see if anyone was frantically looking for something.  After an hour I left with the money.

    If it was a wallet, I'd turn it in. That is actually traceable back to the original owner.

    But just cash on the ground and nothing else? Yeah, momma needs a new pair of shoes. Who's joining me in hell? Wink

    when i was in college, i found a wallet that this dude left on the hour parking permit machine. at first i took it to the closest academic building, but the guy at the front desk looked shady.

    so i peeked into the wallet. the contents made me think this guy was more of a tenured professor than a lowly minimum wage-making student. it was full of cash and had plenty of credit cards.

    had i been the rotten type i would have scored big time. but i'm not that type and would have been struck down by lightening for even considering taking any of that money.

    i called a number in the wallet and actually tracked down this guy's mom! told her the situation and she called her son. met up with him and he gave me $100!!! it was like winning the lottery!

    i ran into him a couple years later and we remembered each other. he explained to his girlfriend and a few friends who i was and what i had done. it made me feel like a million bucks for him to be so grateful!

    If this was 5+ years ago I would have kept it. I'd definitely turn it in now, especially if I found it at a grocery store. Someone is planning on buying food for their family with that money.
