What's your favorite baby carrier

I have a bijorn.. It's great I love it but my back and shoulders are KilLLing me.. miss A is quite the big baby abt 11lbs and she loves to be worn.. Which is fine and almost easier for me when I am chasing Jacob around..is the ergo worth it? Can they be faced foward or only to the chest? Also it seems hot.. Any carriers that do both face in and out?!

Re: What's your favorite baby carrier

  • I heard the ergo is only facing the chest, which is why I bought a beco gemini. It is way better than our bjorn. I also have a moby which is a PITA.
  • Loading the player...
  • Ergo! Yes, they only face in, but that's the best for their hips anyhow...

Yeah I am not smart enough for a moby.. Off to google beco Gemini!

  • I loved my Ergo so much, though they can only face in.  I wore Ava on my back until she was almost 2.

  • Ergo was fantastic - so comfortable for mom and baby - used it for almost 2 years with Jack.  Facing out is not good for their hips and spine anyway.  With Ergo they can face in with a front carry - or you can do a hip carry so they can look around - or a back carry.  Awesome carrier.
    Wheee!

I love my Ergo!  I still sometimes use it with my 3 year olds!!

  • Ergo for ease of use between multiple users and quick to put on.  For multiple carry positions, I ADORE my BaliBaby Stretch, Brigid, wrap.  A hybrid woven wrap, similar to a Moby, but more supportive.  I love that thing!

  • I have friends that love the beco.  Some babies hate to face in so I don't like the Ergo. I've also heard "hot" and "uncomfortable" associated with it!  The Moby is awful.

  • Although they can only face the chest, I LOVE our Er.go.  It's great!

Edit:  now that I think about it, you can use it on the side or on your back too...I haven't tried those positions yet though.

  • I got the Er.go for Christmas.  Now, I've only been using it for a little over a week but so far it's great.  Claire needs to be held a lot so with a toddler I think we'll be using it a lot.  We have the newborn insert for now.  It's very comfortable, of course we'll see as she gets older/heavier since she weighs about 9 lbs right now.

Ditto this!!! From what I remember reading facing out is not good for their hips!!  I love my ergo! You see the looks I get for wearing an over 25lb toddler..

  • I love my ergo.  Sure, it would be nice for them to face out, but it has never been a big issue for us.   And I have the "sport" carrier, which is more breathable than the regular ones.

  • I love my Boba 3G. You don't need to purchase any extra accessories to use with an infant versus and older baby, and it comes with little foot straps for when they get bigger so their legs don't get tired/fall asleep.

You can use it in the front or on the back - both DH and I use it on a daily basis with our DS.

  • I like the Pikkolo.  It is just like the Ergo but baby can be worn front facing forward because it cinches.
