carrier advice

Hi there,

I have a mei tai (Freehand) which is beautiful and handy and wonderful.  But, my husband isn't a fan of all the straps/tying. I'm just not a big fan of using the stroller but I need to get a carrier that both my DH and I will use.

 I'm thinking the Ergo.  My DH is a man of girth and this looks like it will accomodate both our waists. We may be doing some hiking this summer (nothing too, too stenuous) and I'd like something that won't be as likely to make Baby and I overheat. 

Any experience with the Ergo Sport or Performance?  Preference?  Other suggestions?  I'm not as concerned with cute patterns, etc...just something useful that DH and I can both use.  I'd try a linen wrap but again...DH not a fan of the tying.

    The problem with both you and DH using an Ergo is it will require adjusting all the straps each time. That's kind of a pain in the arse. I would buy him an Ergo Sport (which does fit my 300 lb DH, not that he's ever used it) and use the Freehand for yourself.

    I have the performance and love it.  I tried the sport on in the store, and didn't like it as much.  The biggest reason I went with the performance is because of the big pocket.  I can put my wallet (wristlet), keys, and cell phone in it without a problem.

     I'm actually thinking that the pocket will make the difference for DH.  I don't know if I'd care so much but he would.

    My Dh didn't like the ergo. He said it wasn't comfortable for him. He actually liked the Baby Bjorn that I hated. We ended up with me wearing ds in my Peanut Shell sling or my ergo and him carrying ds. He doesn't seem to mind it. There was a post in the first page tonight on this board that had a link to a site that let you rent carriers for two weeks for $20. If you bought one, the rental price applied to the purchase price. That might be a good way to try them out.
