I am trying to find a preschool for DS. Most of the good schools are about 30 minutes away. I am worried about trying to get him to and from school since we are thinking of having a new baby. I imagine it will be hard to transport a newborn every day for a total of an hour's car ride. How far is your child's preschool from your house?

We live in the city and have at least a half hour bus ride to get to her school. It has taken as long as an hour on the way home. It is about 3.5 miles from our home. For us, it was an easy choice as our neighborhood had no appropriate setting for her and she is very happy at this school.
I will have a newborn next year, and will bring her along for drop-off and pickup. You do what you are comfortable with, and for us, this school was the best option.

I purposely chose close to my work because I would be doing pickups/drop offs, and we live a half hour away from work.
So DD's preschool is literally less than a mile down the road from our work (and of course meets and exceeds all of my expectations as far as accredations/standards/education/etc. goes.)
"When it comes to sleeping, whatever your baby does is normal. If one thing has damaged parents enjoyment of their babies, it's rigid expectations about how and when the baby should sleep." ~ James McKenna, Ph.D., Mother Baby Behavioral Sleep Center, University of Notre Dame
It's about 20 mins.
Newborns often do great in the car; that wouldn't have been a problem for me.
