Is anyone doing the warrior dash?  I'm super excited about it!  I want to hear about your experience if you've done it!

Re: Warrior Dash

  • My brother did it last summer and I have already signd up for this summer. Its 3 miles total. The first mile is just a run. The last 2 miles have "obsticles". My brother had a blast. He said there are a lot of people in a heat so sometimes you have to wait your turn at an obsticle.

And DON"T wear good shoes. You will be full of mudd and you will leave them there to donate. Don't wear good anything. It will get ruined.

  • I did it last June in PA.  It was AWESOME!  I'm a little upset I won't be in shape this year to do it as it is about 7 weeks after my due date.  The obstacles this year look so much cooler!  One thing I would have done is log a bit more milage than I did last year and some strength training,

  • I did the Spartan race last year (same thing as warrior dash) and LOVED it. There were about 20 of us from my running team and we are making it an annual event. Def. don't wear anything you care about keeping, because it will be destroyed, but its seriously such a fun time.
  • DH and I did it this past July and are planning on doing it again this year. It is crazy fun!! The obstacles we had varied from rope climbing to a gigantic mud pit with logs in it that we had to jump over. One piece of advice about the obstacles, a lot of people were just standing around looking at the obstacles trying to figure out the best way to do it, how to avoid getting dirty, etc, just go for it!! so much dirty fun. :-)

  • I did it last year, it was great :) Full of good people & a great challenge. The obsticles aren't too hard, but they do challenge you a bit. You will see people of all ages, shapes & sizes running - it was a good time.

I agree w/ PP about the cost & size of the event - I don't think I'll do them in the future, but I did have a great time. If you are interested, sign up and enjoy!

  • We did Muddy Buddy, which is longer and a mix of riding/running with a partner (one partner starts running and the other starts riding, then at each obstacle you switch).  It's about 1-2 miles in between each obstacle.  It was fun and DH and I placed first in our age group and third overall out of 1500 teams.

I don't know that they do Muddy Buddy anymore, though :(

  • My husband and I did it last summer.  I was actually about 6 weeks prego when we did it.  It was so much fun!  It is definitely a challenge, but it is a blast!  Just go with all intentions of having fun and not so much to win.  My goal is to be back in shape to do it again this year.  Good luck and have a great time! :)

  • I did it two summers ago.  It's not as dangerous/edgy as they make it sound.   It was definitely a one time thing.  I felt a greater sense of accomplishment from other races/challenges.  I agree with the above poster, too many people and too expensive.
