Has anyone washed a pillow pet?

The tag says to surface wash but I'd love to throw it in the laundry. Has anyone done it?

    Yep, many times. DD sleeps with it so it goes in the wash at least once every two weeks.

    Thanks!!! I've caught the dog sleeping on it a few times and P spit up all over it today. A damp cloth will no longer do!  LOL

    My LO has two mini pillow pets. We put it in a lingerie bag (or pillow case) and wash it on gentle.  It seems like the stuffing gets a little "chunky" but it gets it clean!

    DH washed DD#1's after she stayed at my parent's for a couple of days.  My mom is a smoker - she doesn't around the kids but their house still smells like it.  So we wash everything when we come home from there.  She had her pillow pet with and DH tossed it in the wash.  It came out clean,good smelling and super poofy (so she couldn't fold it right away) but it's fine and foldable again:)

    Yes, washed and thrown in the dryer MANY times! We have like 5 of them......

    Yes after it got puked on. It was either wash it in the washing machine or toss it, no spot surface cleaning for that mess. It came out show room new. I was shocked how well it held up in the wash. It came out better than the bed pillow that also got puked on.

    I wouldn't want to wash them all the time, but for occassional messes on them or a couple of times a year if they become dirty from play (my girls don't sleep on theirs), sure.

    This.  I've done this and it works fine.  Every few months or so I toss it in the washer in a pillowcase on gentle and air dry.
