Cloth Diapering

anyone know of a sale?

I'm going with a majority ofbumgenius 4.0 pockets  for my new little addition and I need to buy in bulk to get started.. I also need a sprayer and a wetbag and some detergent if possible...
Anyone know of any sales going on now?   I recently bough a few at an AWESOME sale at cottonbabies and now I'm wishing I had gotten them all...

Suggestions?

  • You've heard the strong caution of not buying all one type of diaper for your stash because that invariably leads to problems, correct?

As far as sales, they'll pop up periodically, just keep watching.

Pixy is absolutely right.  I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket.  Also if you are planning on CD'ing from the beginning, the 4.0's wont fit a newborn.

To answer you question about sales, kelly's closet is having a deal where you get a free one-size diaper (value of $17 or more) with any purchase of $59 or more.  Mom's milk boutique has something running as well I believe.  Like the stores on FB and they will post when new codes come out.

  • Look at the gently used diapers on cotton babies. I bought several BG 4.0 last week for $10 each. You do have to buy the inserts separately when you buy this way. Also, use the code BESTDEAL to get an extra 5% off. :)

thanks for your thoughts ladies... I'm okay with the risk...  I've got several good friends doing cloth diapering and a couple went COMPLETELY with bum genius.. the rest went with several different kinds...  The bumgenius friends love  cloth diapering .. the multi-kind friends complain often about ones they dislike...  I'm gonna go with a majority of one kind and only a few of other kinds..  But I really appreciate your help!

And thanks for the tips on sales Joeyslady!

Thanks bookworm... I'll try that... Do you know if the used versions last as long?

  • I always check diaperpin.com for sales... a lot of sites will have 15% off every once in awhile.  You can also wait for a B5G1 sale on BGs.  I was once able to combine 15% off with B5G1 and that's the best price I ever got on them.

Also, check diaperswappers.com for used or NIP diapers at a good price.

I bought about 18 BG 4.0s when I was pg and recently sold almost all of them.  I hate the suede cloth inner and DD's skin always seems irritated after wearing them.  I was okay with the risk of not liking them, too, and it worked out fine because I sold them NIP for about what I paid.  So, I would recommend only prepping a couple until you're sure you like them.

To piggy-back on this, OP please remember it is not just about what works for YOU, but what works for your LO.  You may love a diaper, but come to find out they dont fit your LO well or that they irritate his/her skin.  It is not uncommon for babies to have a sensitivity to suede cloth, the material in BGs.

I made the mistake of investing in just one brand, a kind that some ppl here swear by, but they didn't work for my LO.  So now I have a full stash to sell and have just recently replenished two days worth of diapers with other brands.

Just a cautionary tale.  ;)  You can take it or leave it.

I bought a ton of BG diapers before LO was born and have been so very happy with them.  I've tried a few different diapers since and have resold everything but sized bottombumpers and BG products.  My stash consists of 18 BGE, 8 BG pockets, 4 Sized BG AIOs (I also had these in XS and Small) and 8 Med Bottombumpers.
