3rd Trimester

Got my waxing - Update

Ouch!  Ok so it was really, really intense, but it was over pretty quickly - about 18 minutes.  I had to lay on my side for the back part so it's not quite as neat as it would be normally.  Mostly it wasn't too bad, but there were 3 strips that made me jump a couple of inches off the table.  I forgot to take my Tylenol ahead of time - :(

I wasn't too sore immediately afterward, but I think I was a little numb. Today, it's still a little red/puffy.  I think alot of that is due to all the extra swelling I have all over.  I would probably recover more quickly not pregnant.  I planning to pick up some baby powder to put on my tender skin today.  I might go ahead and take some Tylenol today too to help with the lingering swelling.

Of course, I guess I had it done for everyone ele's enjoyment.  I still can't see it without a mirror!

  • I give you props for doing it this far along in your pregnancy for the first time!  I got a brazillian done before my wedding and just couldn't handle all of it!  For me the part that hurt the worst was the area known as the "landing strip"...I think it permanently scarred my skin...lol.  So from then on out I got it all done but the landing strip, but once I got pregnant I just didn't want to deal with it (my waxing place is like 30 minutes from my house and $60).  It's so much easier to deal with but it is a crazy ride!  LOL...I keep getting cystic pores now that i'm pregnant which they say is normal so I don't want to do anything drastic to that area because of infection so I have to just do it up au natural...but I still try to trim. :/

  • I love getting waxed and am picky about where I go because most places use some sort of wax that my skin doesn't react well to.  I always look for a place that uses hard wax (it's normally blue), they're usually a bit more expensive.  But the wax doesn't stick to the skin and I find my skin reacts better to it and the experience is a lot less painful!

I moved a few months ago so now I need to find a place that uses hard wax and a skilled (i.e. fast and thorough!) technician to do it.  As I recall, the first wax is always the worst, but with proper upkeep each time after is a breeze.

  • Your brave.  I get my bikini done before and it hurts not pregnant so Im not thinking the brazilian will be a good idea.  However - Im sure as Im trying to move and get dh to hold the mirror while I trim - its getting to be uncomfortable for me already

  • I get Brazilians about every 6-8 weeks.  The last time I went was about 4 weeks ago and quickly changed my mind from Brazilian to regular bikini wax. Due to increased bloodflow in a pregnant woman, it hurts more now than usual (like when you're about to get your period).  But a Tylenol and a few extra glasses of water always help.

It's not bad at all, and much easier than trying to trim or shave yourself.

Lol, I have already pushed an 8.5 lb baby out once before, and am still too much of a wimp to wax. Maybe when they start offering epidurals for those as well...haha...

So for the bikini instead of a brazilian, do they still do the edges near the lips or just the edges near the top?  During mine yesterday, she offered to leave a strip, but I figured, in for a penny, in for a pound.  I may try to get one more done before delivery, but I'll be leaving the strip.  That's where I have the most lingering tenderness today.
