Babies: 6 - 9 Months

SOLIDS....

My DD has been on cereals since 4 months old. She's now taking fruits, and most veggies (though the veggies have become a downright fight at night. We mix it with formula and oatmeal, but whatever works!). Her doc had mentioned "no meats" til her 9 month appointment. There's 2nd foods that are "chicken pot pie" or whatever....am I not allowed to give these to her?? She'll be 7 months old this month. I'm wondering if I could give her some of these "entree" foods with some veggies to try to get her to take her veggies easier?? What are your opinions?

Re: SOLIDS....

  • My dr. said no meat until 9 months either. He said it had something to do with how the stomach acids process meat.

I've been avoiding it just because I think mashed meat is all shades of gross not so much because I believe his theory. (Although that is one of the few things he has ever commented on).

However, now at 8 months I have started giving her little pieces of hamburger/shredded pork and chicken etc.

We're all still here and fine.

I also agree with the pp. We do spinach and mango (I bought that) but I mix peas and applesauce, carrots and pumpkin etc. all the time. Google for some good combos.

  • Yeah, sometimes I mix them when I get desperate. I'm trying not to give her too many fruit servings a day. But I'll do it if that's the only way to get her to take her veggies. As far as the meats go, maybe I'll wait another month or so. I wasn't sure as to the "why" when he mentioned not to do it. I don't want to rush or push her digestive system.
