XP: Big Girl Diapers!! *Adalyn update 3/4 PIP*

Hi everyone! Sorry that it's been a few days since I've been able to send an update, but there just isn't enough time! Smile

Feeding and Weight

Adalyn has finally surpassed 1 kilo!!!!! Today she weighed in at 1.06 kg (1060g) or 2 pounds 5 ounces!!  She is up to 22 ml every 3 hours, and she has been tolerating her feedings very well.  She has also outgrown her itty bitty diapers and is now in Preemie diapers! She is swimming in the new ones, but the other ones were just too small! Let's hope that she keeps on this path of gaining between 20 and 30 grams a day, which is a very good growth rate according to her doctor.  If she does, she'll be able to finally start wearing some clothes in a little over 2 weeks!

Breathing

She is still on the CPAP, and now they are alternating between the nasal prongs and mask every 6 to 8 hours so that it gives the different parts of her face a chance to rest.  They tried the Hi-Flo nasal cannulas (a step-down from the CPAP, with oxygen and no pressure), but she was requiring about 50% oxygen with those whereas with the CPAP she was in the 20s and 30s for her oxygen requirement.  Her MD said that the trade-off wasn't worth it (needing the higher oxygen) and that they will retry her on the Hi-Flo in a few days to a week as she gains some more weight. 

Kangaroo Care

Yesterday we were able to start doing Kangaroo Care twice a day!! She's been tolerating more and more time (1.5 to 2 hours) each time.  She is always on her belly when she is on me (her favorite position) and yesterday she was facing the window.  She actually lifted her head and turned it the other way---all by herself!! I couldn't believe it! We're hanging out at the hospital more time now since I'm doing the Kangaroo time.  We'll go for one of her Hands On and stay through to the next one twice a day, so about 6 hours a day at the hospital.

    OMG!! 1 month!! yay!! and she's doing so well!!! Check Target for preemie stuff, I got some really cute things online for $4-6 dollars!! I put Allison in this little ballerina tee today <: 

     

    You are my hero! I am so exhausted I wish I could spend 6 hours with them!! We are moving ours closer within the next few days so that will be helpful!

    Also, send your pumping skills dust this way! I'm doing ok but my supply is average to low average... I'm trying though!! haha

    That is all wonderful!! Go, Adalyn, go!!!! So much of her progress mirrors my baby Jack's progress (even lifting and turning his head by himself during K-care time)... my Jack is jealous, though, because even though he's 2 lbs. 15 ounces as of tonight, they have him still in the teeny-tiny Pampers! I think it's because he's long and skinny with long chicken legs like his Daddy! :D
