Trying to Get Pregnant

is this a positive opk and is it valid?

Last month, I got a positive OPK and was really excited even though my temperatures didn't show ovulation.  This month, I haven't gotten one and I've been waiting and waiting because now it's CD20 and I've been having short cycles.

I took my OPK test this morning and it was definitely negative.  Tonight? Not so sure.  I'll look at it once and think, "Not quite positive yet," but I'll look again and think, "Well.... maybe... is it?"  But I'm also questioning the validity of the test.  I know, I know -- the directions on the wrapper say to dip it in for 3 seconds with my wondfo.  I thought, "that's such a short amount of time!" Normally, I dip it in for 4 or maaaaybe 5 seconds.  Tonight I was thinking how I used to use Answer brand and it said 10 seconds.  So.... I stuck this stick in the pee for seven seconds.  I forced myself to wait the full 5 minutes and this is the result I got.

So now I'm questioning: 1. Is it even positive? and 2. Is it valid?  What do you guys think?

  • The bottom pic looks positive to me. If it's not positive, it's close. GL!

  • I tried to read the brand you have... Some brands say if any part of the line is as dark then it's positive. There is one that says it must be 50% of the line just as dark to be +.

I'm going to say + but if not, close enough to justify BD :) GL

Edit: Read your directions for clarification on how much of the line has to be as dark or darker. And sorry, you mentioned the brand right in the post... My bad.

  • I would lean towards negative. The majority of the test line is lighter than the control. I think you're getting close though.

  • I'm new to OPK but I would count that bottom one as a positive. I *thought* with the Wondfo's that if the first half of that line is as dark or darker than the control it's positive.

Correct me if I'm wrong ladies!

  • I initially thought positive, but I've never used those kind before. I definitely think part of the line is as dark as the control, but don't know what that means.  I'm with the when in doubt hump it out philosophy!  You must be soon and can't hurt!

  • I would say its almost positive.

I would BD just in case ;)

  • I would say negative...

I had one very similar to this last week, and my temps are still low.  Just to share, I always have a test line and my positives are always only as dark not darker.  You should be very close, I tend to get darker and darker OPKs until positive... hopefully that is the case with you!

Hopefully you are having some sexy fun with your hubs right about now.

  • I think this is why I'd go digi.  Hope to pick some up tomorrow

This exactly!  I am new to OPKs, however I think you are super close to positive, but not quite there yet.  This cycle, I had one that looked pretty similar to this and the next morning it was a definite positive. Fingers crossed for a huge positive tomorrow followed by a temp spike:)

  • ps - I'm definitely no expert, but I think the test is valid. I usually dip mine for longer than 3 seconds.
