i was really active on saturday and once i sat down i had 5 or 6 braxton hicks contractions. i was 13w5d on saturday. wtf?!? i called labor and delivery and the nurse said she wasn't worried about it, and she wasn't even sure that if i did go to the ER if they would even take me to l&d, because they don't see anyone before 20 weeks. (really? i know i live in bfe, but you will see me if i need it.) they stopped after i laid down and chugged a bunch of water, but it worries me that they are starting already. i had them from 20w on with my dd, and i know my uterus is about 20 weeks big right now, but... and i know they were BH because i had them all the time with her. there's no mistaking that annoying ass tightening.
i'm going to talk to my dr about it at my appt tomorrow. i just wanted to see if anyone else had had BH starting so early?
(i can't get to my ticker right now, but there's two bambinos in there
)
Re: really? BH already?
Etta Jane and Claire Elaine are here! Born March 28, 2012.

What it's like to cloth diaper twins, Part I.
Cloth diapering twins, Part II.
and have you had any problems with ptl or your cervix shortening? i'm so freaking paranoid... i just want to make sure i get to hand my intended parents two healthy, BIG babies!
Mine started at 18 weeks and did. not. stop. until I delivered at 36 wks.
I dd have PTL at 30 wks, bed rest until the end.
Mine started at 18w and I made it to my scheduled c/s.
Just keep yourself hydrated and guzzle a bunch of water next time it happens, then lay on your left side.
I can't remember how many are "allowed" in an hour...it's in Dr Luke's book. This happened my whole pregnancy.
This is my third pregnancy, I felt BH's earlier each time including this time with the twins by at least 10 weeks. I'd only have one every now and then. For about the last 10 weeks I've had between 2 to 5 everyday, but I just started having a lot more this past week...like 10 to 20 a day. My cervix is super long (some shortening from 6cm @ 20 weeks to 4cm @ 26 weeks) and no funneling, no PTL, bleeding, or anything else.
Also, like PP said above...we get larger with twins earlier so maybe that's also why?
Yeah, I started feeling them in the first tri, too. Part of it, my OB explained, is that since we've done this before, we know what they feel like. Likely it happened in the first pregnancy, too, but they weren't recognizable.
Even with BHs from early on, my cervix is over 4 cm and closed, babies are both over 2 lbs, everything's great! If you have too many (can't remember the #), lay down and drink some water. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry.
You are doing an AMAZING thing, btw!
mine started around 11-12 weeks with the twins. no PTL, but I dilated to 3cm at 33 weeks and had them at 34 weeks 6 days.
I think they start earlier with twins, and if it's not your first pregnancy, they start even earlier.
Yes. I work in the ER, and the triage rules are...before 20 weeks, you are seen in the ER (like PP post said, there is nothing that can be done at that point), but after 20 weeks, you go straight to L&D (we will not see you in the ER, unless it's for obvious other reasons, i.e trauma, etc. in which case we try our best to get you out of the ER!). So yes, you will be seen, just not necessarily in the area/unit of your choice
This is the case in all the hospitals I've worked at (in 2 different major cities).
