Huge sleep step!!!

M has always fought sleep and prefers to nurse to sleep. I've been rocking her to sleep more often in order to break this habit and allow DH to help me get her down. She has also always hated the car. Like hated it. Unless I was back there with her. For long car rides I have nursed her to sleep while she is in the car seat because she would never go to sleep even after crying for 40 mins. 

So today we went to a play gym class about 15 mins away. On the way home she started to cry (which I expected) but she stopped when I started saying momma over and over again. I watched her in he mirror just drift off the sleep! This has NEVER happened. I can't get over it. She has never drifted off on her own (I know the car is a crutch but it never was for her) without parenting to sleep so I am just amazed to watch her sleep right now. I'm in the driveway parked because I am not waking her up.

Either gym class wore her out or we've made some progress with breaking the nursing association. Either way I'll take it. To watch her drift off without being in my arms is HUGE!

    Have you tried introducing a blankie?  I didn't think it would matter, but LO got attached to hers sooo quickly.  She sleeps with it under her face now (when she's on her belly) or in her hands.  I also give it to her in her carseat and she either plays with it or goes to sleep.  She HATED the carseat before and would scream for the whole hour drive to my parents' house.
