So I saw my parents this weekend and my mom made a comment about how I hold my stomach a lot. I have always been wierd about this area as it is not my favorite to show off and now that I am preggers, sometimes it is just more comfortable to hold especially if he is sitting/sleeping low.
Then she told me to be careful, because my grandma warned her about that with my brother (half-brother; this is my stepmom) and him wanting to be held a lot after he was born.
This just sounded like one of those wives tales with nothing to support this. Anyone else hear or experience anything like this? It just sounds a little dumb to me, but I have heard dumber and wierder things before.
Re: This sounds dumb--anyone else hear this?
I have not heard of this even as an OWT... interesting...
but I did always wonder why when I saw a pregnant woman they were always rubbing their bellies... well, now I know... for me anyways... to help "soothe" my RLP...
CRAFTY ME
my read shelf:
That's a bunch of BS. lol
They are wrapped like a cocoon in there anyway, so just that is enough reason for the baby to be more comfortable swaddled after it's born. You touching your stomach has nothing to do with it.
This- Plus I have never heard this ever!!!
I find for me - sometimes the baby moves and it tickles, so I itch it. lol
as it is a weird feeling. Or I like feeling LO move.
Holding our arms in front of our stomachs during pregnancy is an instinct that goes back to the caveman days, it's a protective position. Like a PP said, baby has no idea you're "holding" him/her.
Babies just like to be held, your step brother was totally normal.
