2nd Trimester

He's so impatient!

My husband is so impatient. He asks me everyday if I think he'll be able to feel the baby kick and I don't have an answer for him! I'm 17 weeks and I'm wondering when he'll be able to feel our little munchkin kick. Smile

  • I am 20w3d and DH is getting very impatient because he hasn't been able to feel either.

  • My husband felt the first small, very very slight kick around 18 or 19 weeks. But it wasn't until around week 2o or 21 that he was able to feel them more often. Now at 24 he can feel little one kick a lot more, and can even feel the vibrations when he is moving around.

  • That is so exciting! I am getting a little impatient myself at only 16w 3d : )

  • It will happen and it is a nice reassurance that things are going well. It is hard for dads-to-be since they don't have a big change happenig to them yet, they just get to hear about it.

Around 19 weeks I started to feel him and my hubby felt a couple soon after, now I can see my belly move, and hubby says WOW when there is a big kick...and I just look down and ask him what he is doing in there...I think he is going to want to be a kick-boxer the way he is going to town on my stomach...he gets the hiccups a lot too!

  • My baby was pushing what I assumed was his back out so my husband could feeling the baby at around 19weeks but no serious kicking yet with my other 2 it was around 23 weeks tell him before long he will be able to see the baby moving especially at night after you've finally stopped for the day...that's when baby thinks its party time.  We saw the craziest things lying in bed watching my stomach morph...like an alien was trying to get out.  As you get a little further along have a glass of juice right before bed and lie down and wait and see a little sugar usually gets them moving...a good little tip for later on in the pregnancy if you feel like you haven't felt the baby in awhile have a glass of juice and wait about 10-15 minutes it usually gets the baby moving around.

  • MH isn't as enthralled with the kicks as I am. I think he felt his first outside kick around 23 weeks or so. She would stop kicking every time he would put his hand on my belly. He didn't seem too upset by it, just said that she knew it was his hand on her and it would relax her. He has felt her a few times since then, but for some reason, it's not that big of a deal to him. He knows she's in there and talks to her and kisses my belly goodbye.

As the time was approaching where I might be able to feel kicks, I didn't stress out about it much. It's my first and I have an anterior placenta, so knew it might be awhile. I also didn't obsess about every little feeling in my belly, wondering if it was her and I'm really glad I stayed so calm about it. I actually felt her before I expected to, at 17 1/2 weeks, with outside kicks at 20 1/2 weeks.

With my first son, DH felt him right around 25 weeks I think.  DH was laying his head on my belly on Father's Day and got a swift kick to head! :)

  • I am 21 weeks and my husband has felt him move twice. The first time was at about 20 wks 2 days and the second time was this morning, at 21 weeks 1 day. Everytime I feel him move, I lay flat on my back, grab my husband's hand and put it on my belly (under my shirt) and lay still for several minutes. Usually, it seems like the baby stops moving as soon as I do this, but we have been able to catch him twice now! Also, it seems my husband can only feel the bigger "kicks". Sometimes I feel flutters while my husbands hand is on my belly but he doesn't feel those.

Be glad your husband is excited! I think it's cute! And tell him don't worry...it will happen!
