Trying to Get Pregnant

First post - trying to conceive

My husband and I have been trying to conceive now for 3 months.  I know that's not a ton of time, but so far we have struck out. Again, I know it's early, but I'm starting to feel bad about myself because we haven't conceived yet.  It is especially difficult because I work with 7 women who are pregnant and know of several others.

I guess I'm just looking for some advice here or words of encouragement.

What Oliveoil said.  :-)  Welcome aboard!  The girls here are really awesome and helpful with any questions you have or support.  I'd definitely start taking prenatals and folic acid now and start charting your temps and CM with Fertility Friend.  It's a good first step for learning about your body.

  • Welcome!  I'm pretty new here too, and it's my first month TTC.  Everyone I know is pregnant, so I understand you.  It's hard, especially when you hear so many of them got pregnant within a month or two.  Hopefully it happens for you soon!
  • Welcome -

I understand completely how you feel. My DH and I won't be TTC until late April/early May - just depends on AF schedule. I feel like everyone I know is pregnant or has a new baby. It's been much harder as of late to wait. We have our reasons for waiting, but I found that the support of this group along with charting has really helped me focus.

There are hard times, (like on Saturday night when my husband's BFF called to tell us that he and his wife were expecting) but I just try and stay positive and post, read books and also try to get out of my house a little more - other wise, I'd go crazy!

    GOOD LUCK!!! :-)

  • Welcome!  Another newbie here, first cycle TTC

My Dr. told me (at my preconception consultation) that for healthy couples: 60% get pregnant within 6 months, and 80% within 8 months.  As other people on here will probably tell you - it can take up to a year or more for perfectly healthy couples to conceive.

I understand how you feel though - especially once you start TTC, you get SUPER sensitive about everyone around you.  It seems like pregnant women just start popping up out of nowhere!  Just remember, you have no clue what others have gone through: I know people who had "oopsie" babies, I know people who tried for 5 years.  But most people conceive within/around a year - so 3 months is nothing to get worried about just yet!

Welcome and Good Luck!  I also had the misconception that once I started TTC I would get pregnant right away.  But it's not that easy and you only have about a 20-30% each cycle.  And once you start TTC, you seem to see pregnant people and babies everywhere (i'm pretty sure they were around before, I just notice them more now)!  I agree with PPs, check out Fertilityfriend.com, read the newbie link at the top of the board and if you can buy a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility (I got a used copy on amazon for cheap).

  • Welcome!

I am kind of in the same boat as you. I have been temping now for a month and have found it VERY helpful! I've been taking prenatal vitamins for a few months. I've just made myself relax about the whole thing-I don't want to stress over it until its really worth stressing over. If you have a smartphone, temping on FF is super easy and then you can do everything else you may want to once you are on a computer. These message boards are very helpful too...especially when everyone around you seems like they're pregnant!

I hope you get your BFP soon, but in the meantime, just relax and enjoy :)  Good luck!

  • Welcome! I think you will find this place really helpful, I know I have. Especially when you feel bad about AF showing up and things aren't happening as quickly as you imagined they would.

This is our 5th Month TTC and we are still waiting. This month I started charting and I am still trying to figure it out, at least it's something to do to take my mind off of the number of days before I can POAS.

Good luck and lots of sparkly baby dust!

  • Welcome and good luck!!
