Help with my G,G,B sibset

DDs are Elizabeth Grace (Ellie) and Abigail Jane (Abby)

Baby brother is due in 3 weeks and we,re deciding between Owen daniel and Benjamin Daniel.

Benjamin is biblical like our girl names but Owen is old-fashioned (albeit a bit trendy/poplar) however we wouldn't discount a name due to popularity as both Elizabeth and Abby are in he top 10 or 15 and I don believe either Owen or Benjamin is quite as high actually in the ranks.

My DH is sold on Owen and thinks Benjamin is solid but he isn't over he moon. I go back and forth over which I like better. My girls (3 and 4) love Owen :). Help!

Re: Help with my G,G,B sibset

  • I pick Benjamin, mostly by default, because I don't like Owen. I think Benjamin is classic, like your daughters', and ages extremely well.

I agree with this BUT knowing the rest of the family is sold on Owen and you keep going back and forth I'd probably go with Owen. You obviously like it so I doubt you'd be disappointed. GL!

  • I don't care for Owen so I vote for Benjamin. Plus I think it goes better with the girls names because it is more classic.

  • I like both names. I think you should go w/ Owen so you don't end up with three "ee" nicknames, i.e. Abb-y, Ell-ie, Benn-y.

  • I chose Benjamin because I think the nick name Ellie, Abby and Benny are absolutely adorable! Owen feels like a rip off name to me, not long enough! GL

  • I really like Owen but I love Benjamin!!  It's my cousin's name so I'm not sure I will ever use it as a fn.  I think Benjamin is more classic, like your girls names.

  • I like Benjamin with your sibset.  If fits better because it has three syllables and a nickname, like the other two names (well, Elizabeth has 4, I haven't had my coffee yet).  it's perfect for your sibset IMO.

     Yep! :)  Agree!

  • Benjamin goes better with your DDs names, however since everyone else in your family likes Owen, I think you might not have a choice.

  • I like both names a lot.  I think I give a slight edge to Owen.

  • I would go with Owen since everyone in your family loves it so much.  I really like it and I think Owen sounds best with Ellie and Abby.  Benjamin sounds better with Elizabeth and Abigail, but I'm guessing they go by their nicknames most of the time.
  • Your childrens names are eerily similar to mine. I have Elizabeth Kathryn (Eliza), Abraham John (Abe) and my 3 week old is Owen William. So, obviously, I vote for Owen.

We went with Owen to continue the vowel trend. My husband and I are both vowels as well. I did struggle slightly with the fact that Owen does not go by a nickname and is not a Bible name like the other kids but I just liked the name better than the other names on our list that fit the other criteria exactly. My other kids liked it best as well which was a factor but not the most important one.

You cannot go wrong with either name :) Maybe wait to meet him and see what fits?

  • I prefer Benjamin and think it is so cute with your Ds' names - but, if H and the girls love Owen and you love both... maybe you should go with Owen?

Personally though, I'd be with Benjamin :)

    GL
