Coffemate Addicts

Hi there,

I'm new to the bump and am reasearching up a storm since this is my 1st pregnancy and  I'm in my first trimester.  My question is, for those of you who still drank a little coffee when you were pregnant, did you use coffeemate?  I have tried to use many healthier versions but they are just not the same.  My husband and I both agree that it is addicting.  From the post below I think some of you may be as well!

 Thanks!

Re: Coffemate Addicts

  • I didn't give up coffee while I was PG.

My husband is a total coffeemate addict- personally I prefer real half and half, but he likes coffeemate better.  I always put some milk in my coffee and then just a little coffeemate because it's so sweet.

I don't let him buy the sugarfree or fat free kind- I feel like those have even more artificialness in them.

  • I didn't give up coffee either, but I usually went with de-caf or half-caf.  I tried not to go the coffeemate route, and would puts lots of milk in it to make myself feel better about drinking it!  But ohhhhhh I <3 french vanilla!

  • I agree w/ the PP...don't get the "lite" stuff.  And if you can, half and half with a bit of flavored syrup is better.
  • My husband is a coffeemate addict but only the liquid kind and I'm glad it's the liquid kind because after watching Stuff Happens with Bill Nye in which he ignites powder coffee creamer it scares me what's in the stuff!
  • My dad consumes massive amounts of the powdered French Vanilla Coffeemate, so for x-mas I am making him a healthier homemade version.    All you need is a vanilla bean, sugar, and powdered milk.   Split open the vanilla bean and put it in a jar of sugar.    Leave it there for a while, at least a week (the longer you leave it, the stronger the vanilla flavor).   Give the jar a shake every now and then.    After the sugar has absorbed the vanilla flavor, mix the sugar with powdered milk.   Voila!  Powdered vanilla coffee creamer with no scary ingredients.
  • i dunno.  i think everything in moderation while you are pregnant is fine.  i stayed away from caffeine but mostly b/c i didn't crave coffee like i do regularly.  if i were drinking coffee, i would probably go with the regular coffeemate, not the fat free or sugar free.  a little is probably fine.  it's not like you are drinking the coffeemate itself by the glass!
  • I switched to decaf, but had regular when I needed help with el numero dos. Stick out tongue
